Harlan Kelley, blind Milwaukee attorney who nominated General MacArthur for the presidency. A diabetic, he underwent an operation in which his right leg was amputated above the knee. He suffered complete loss of vision more than a year ago. His speech at the 1948 national republican convention placing the name of MacArthur in nomination won him an ovation.

John M Kelley, president of the Circus World Museum of Baraboo, made a trip to the British West Indies and bought a coconut grove on the island of Cayman Brac. To get funds for the purchase, he sent a note to George Weber, president of the Baraboo National Bank, containing the clause "Interest at 5 1/2 per cent payable in nuts". Weber honore his note. Now, Kelley said, he and Weber are searching for some monkeys to harvest the crop of coconuts.

In sliding down from the top, he fell iinto an iron fork, one of the tines of which entered his right cheek.
